Ahold Delhaize cybersecurity incident disrupts online grocery ordering, deliveries and retail distribution across multiple countries

Beginning on October 11, 2026, Ahold Delhaize experienced a cybersecurity incident affecting its corporate network, prompting precautionary shutdowns of multiple information technology and logistics systems. The disruption affected retail brands in the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States. In the Netherlands, Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall reported unavailable websites, mobile applications and customer service systems. Albert Heijn confirmed that disabled logistics systems prevented online grocery deliveries, blocked new orders and forced cancellation of previously placed orders. Store replenishment capacity was also affected, with the company operating selected distribution centers, arranging additional deliveries and warning of uneven product availability, particularly for fresh produce. Electronic shelf labels temporarily displayed outdated promotional prices, although checkout systems continued functioning. In the United States, websites and applications for Stop & Shop, Hannaford, Giant Food, Food Lion and The Giant Company were taken offline, interrupting online grocery services and resulting in refunds for unfulfilled orders. In Belgium, Delhaize temporarily disabled internal systems and customer service, restricted available online delivery and collection slots, but continued fulfilling previously scheduled deliveries on October 12. Ahold Delhaize confirmed that physical stores remained open and began controlled restoration of affected systems on October 13. The attack mechanism and responsible actor had not been established, and the company reported no evidence of customer or employee data theft at that time. Dutch cybersecurity authorities reported no established connection with the contemporaneous attacks on supermarket refrigeration systems in France.
